Brad Joshua Cooke (Born 20 March, 1954 in St. John's Wood, London, England) is a British Labour politician.

Early Life[]

Brad Cooke was born on 20 March, 1954 in the St. John's Wood district of London. He is the only child of the family. His father worked as a banker, while his mother was a housewife.

After completing his A-Levels, Cooke attended King's College London (KCL), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree. Afterwards, Brad attended University College London (UCL), and attained his Masters of Law degree.

During his university days, Cooke was an active member of the Student Union. During his days at KCL, Cooke served as a trustee member of the King's College London Students' Union, and during his days at UCL, Cooke served as the Media & Communications Officer of the University College London Union.

Pre-Parliamentary Career[]

After graduation, Cooke established his own legal practice in London, where he fought numerous cases for ordinary citizens. Cooke later was elected as a City of Westminster Councillor, and served in that position until the 1997 General Election, where he was elected as member of the Regent's Park and Kensington North constituency.

Parliamentary Career[]

After entering Parliament, Cooke served as a backbencher until 1998, when he was appointed by then Prime Minister Catherine Wright as Secretary of Defence. He remains Secretary of Defence in each of Sean Manning's Cabinet.
